Tsvangirai attacks ZBC
BY Prosper Kutyauripo
The MDC T leader Morgan Tsvangirai last week attacked the public media for their bias towards the ruling party at a rally held in Mucheke Stadium B grounds in Masvingo where he launched the ‘no electoral reforms no elections’ campaign.
Addressing thousands of party supporters Tsvangirai expressed dissatisfaction over the operations of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) as he threw allegations that the national broadcaster is biased and only favors the ruling party while suppressing other opinions.
“Ungabva zuva richibuda kusvika zuva richinyura uchingotaura nyaya ye ZANU PF chete? Ko vamwe? Where are the other opinions? Hamunyare here?” Said the MDC T leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
Tsvangirai further went on to blame ZANU PF for personalizing public media to the extent that it is now used as tool to gain political expedience and as a megaphone for propaganda.
“ZBC cannot be a ZANU broadcasting corporation and expect us to accept zvinhu zvakapusa kudaro?” said Tsvangirai.
He also advised and urged the media to remain neutral and warned them not to be champions of promoting divisions, violence and he warned all biased media outlets that one day they shall answer on their evil deeds.
“Let me warn all the media that if you are the champions of promoting divisions, violence, one day you shall answer what you were promoting.” said the MDC T leader.
He also poked the ZBC news crew by asking what they were doing at the rally since they never broadcast the news on television or on radio.
“I have been talking to the ZBC camera man and asked what he is doing here since they never broadcast the news on radio or on television,” said Tsvangirai.
In his concluding remarks, Tsvangirai urged the MDC T supporters to remain united and stay free from violence.
