By Prosper Kutyauripo
Great Zimbabwe University media students launched a press club which is meant to equip them with relevant and quality journalism skills at the university’s Mashava campus on the 7th of April.
To grace the event was VMCZ director Mr. Loft Dube who welcomed the initiative saying that the press club is a great vision which is going far and it is significant to equip media students with quality journalism skills.
“The press club is going to be great and its significance is to equip media students with quality journalism skills,” said Dube.
He also advised and urged the media students to remain focused and have a greater vision in order to safeguard and perpetuate the life of the ‘newly born baby.’
“Please do not lack vision, if you lack vision it will just die,” added Dube.
Patron of the Great Zimbabwe University Press Club (GZUPC) Mr. Golden Maunganidze promised his full support and urged students to remain focused and united.
“I am ready to give full support but I urge you to remain focused and united,” said the Patron.
He insisted that the press club is a great opportunity for all media students to practice news writing and reporting as well as inviting other media experts to deliver lectures and continue getting equipped with journalistic skills.
“This press club is an opportunity for all students to practice news writing and its role again is to invite other media experts to deliver lectures and continue to equip you with journalistic skills,” the Patron added.
GZU lecturer for Media and Cultural studies Mr. Pepukai Chiwewe expressed joy and welcomed the new club saying that the club is not only limited and beneficiary to media students but it is also an open platform for all students from various departments for media literacy.
“This club is not only beneficiary to media students, it is an open platform for all students from various departments especially for media literacy sack,” said Mr. Chiwewe.
